Crew change

From the 1st of October there will be some new members in the ERA-NET ROAD team as the coordinator and two Work Package leader are leaving the project. Martin Steward from the Highways Agency will replace Trevor Hunt, Richard van der Elburg replaces already Lizette Hemmen from Rijkswaterstaat and Karsten Strauch will succeed Björn Kracht. Furthermore joined Karin Holthuis the project as Nicole van Buren left also the project.

SRO Workshop Cologne

Germany was the starting point for the upcomming Strategic Research Opportunity Workshops. In Cologne ERA-NET ROAD arranged the SRO 2 Workshop attending to "Holistic approach towards sustainable roads."

At the 5th and 6th of November 2007 17 experts from 8 member countries (SWE, DK, NL, GER, SLO, UK, PL, AU) participated at this workshop arranged at the Federal Highway Research Institue near Cologne and received a finally defined programme with detailed objectives and expected outcomes. Furthermore the meeting under the chairmanship of Hans Ingvarson could announce a compact work programme for the future including time table and a task force.

The first ERA-NET ROAD SRO Workshop was a high prodctive starting point for the upcoming SRO workshops in 2007 and 2008.

SRO Workshops

The first SRO workshop will be arranged at the Federal Highway Research Insitute (BASt) in Cologne / Germany and discussed SRO 2 "Holistic approach towards Sustainable roads".

The second SRO workshop will refer to SRO 3 "Road Owners Getting to Grips with Climate Changes" and will take place in Copenhagen / Denmark.

The last SRO workshop in 2007 will be arranged in Zurich / Switzerland and considers SRO 7 "Emerging Technologies Underpinning the Service Provider Role".

The two SRO workshops in 2008 discussing SRO 1 "People Safety at the Heart of Road Design" in Ljubljana / Slovenia and SRO SRO 4 "Effective Asset Managemant Meeting Future Challenges" in Cracow / Poland.

TRA conference 2008

The TRA conference 2006 in Gothenburg

The second Transport Research Arena (TRA) conference will take place in Ljubljana. It will be jointly organised by the Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR), the European Road Transport Research Advisory Committee (ERTRAC) and the European Commission.
